Dragging on!!

Well the cenotaph project is still 'work in progress'. Most of the work to improve the cenotaph itself has been either completed or funded. The rest of the work is on hold due to the possibility of a mine shaft being on site. Don't know who asked or found out about this since it was never discussed in meetings. A new web site was up and running about the project but has since been closed down due to lack of interest. However, when the site closed down its content was migrated to a new home at http://www.athertonians.co.uk/cenotaphsite/home.html but the information contained there is no longer updated and is as it was when the site closed down. There are documents there to view with details regarding the names on the memorial plaques and also where the fallen are buried etc. Take a look if you want to find information on a relative who was from Atherton and fell in either of the two world wars.
